Charter Street Cemetery is one of the oldest colonial burial sites in the country and has been a fixture of downtown Salem for almost 400 years. Containing hundreds of years of funerary art and local history, Salem’s oldest cemetery presents a lens by which the history of Salem is inscribed (and in some cases, ignored).
